About battery replacement
Phone batteries wear out. After two or three years of daily charging, most hold noticeably less than they did when new, and the phone starts needing a top-up by mid-afternoon. A replacement battery is the cheapest repair we offer and usually the one that makes an older handset feel usable again.
The signs worth acting on are rapid drain, shutdowns at 20 or 30 per cent, sluggish performance under load, and any swelling that lifts the screen or back panel away from the frame. Swelling in particular should not be left — if you can see a gap opening up, stop charging the device and get in touch.
We fit the new cell, calibrate it and test charge behaviour before your device goes back to you. Post it to us from anywhere in the UK, or drop it in at our Harlow workshop in Essex where most battery replacements are completed the same day.
Common questions
The things customers usually ask before booking a battery replacement.
How do I know it’s the battery and not something else?
On iPhone, open Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health & Charging. If maximum capacity has dropped well below what you would expect for the age of the phone, the battery is the likely cause. Android handsets vary, but rapid drain, shutdowns while there is still charge showing, and a phone that runs hot doing very little all point the same way. If you are unsure, tell us the symptoms before booking and we will help you work it out.
The back of my phone is lifting or the screen sits proud. Is that urgent?
Yes — stop charging it and get in touch. A battery that swells is pushing the phone apart from the inside, and continuing to charge it makes that worse. It is not a repair to put off for a fortnight. We handle these regularly and would rather hear from you early.
Will a new battery fix my phone being slow?
Sometimes, and it is worth knowing when. iPhones deliberately reduce performance when a battery can no longer supply peak power, so a replacement genuinely does restore speed on an older handset. If the phone is slow but the battery health is fine, the cause is elsewhere and a battery will not help. We would rather tell you that than sell you a repair that changes nothing.
Why does a Pixel battery cost more than an iPhone one?
Parts pricing and access, mostly. Battery replacement starts at £44.99 across iPhone, £59.99 on Samsung Galaxy and £64.99 on Google Pixel — the difference reflects what the cells cost us and how much disassembly each design needs, not a different standard of work.
Do you replace iPad batteries?
Not at present. Our iPad service currently covers screens only. If you need an iPad battery, get in touch and we will tell you honestly whether we can help rather than take a booking we cannot fulfil.
Will I lose my data?
No. Replacing a battery does not touch your storage, so photos, apps and settings stay exactly as they are. Back up before sending any device to any repairer as a matter of habit, but nothing about this repair puts your data at risk.
